BBQ Glazed Ham on the Bone: A Crowd-Pleasing Recipe Made Easy Using 4 Simple Ingredients
- Prep Time : 10 Minutes
- Cook Time : 3 Hours
- Difficulty : Easy
Ingredients
Ham on the Bone (whole or half)
Glaze Recipe;
1 ½ cups soft brown sugar
½ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup Dijon mustard
½ cup honey
Method
1. Remove skin from the ham, being careful not to remove the fat layer underneath.
2. Score the fat layer
3. Place all glaze ingredients in a medium-sized pot over medium heat and stir until all ingredients are combined
4. Adust BBQ burners to achieve a temperature of 160 celsius. If possible, configure burners so that there is no heat coming from directly under where the ham will be placed.
5. Place ham in a foil tray in the BBQ.
6. Optional: place a piece of smoke wood on the cooking grates directly over a lit burner (apple wood is a great match for this recipe)
7. Add a small amount of water to the foil tray as necessary to ensure the glaze does not burn in the bottom of the tray
8. Baste ham with glaze every 30 minutes until the internal temperature of the ham has reached 60 Celsius. This should take around 3 hours, depending on the size of the ham and BBQ configuration. It is always best to check with a food thermometer.
9. Once the ham has reached temperature, and you are happy with the layer of glaze, remove it from the BBQ, serve, and enjoy!
